Once again we are offering three $1,000 no-strings-attached entrepreneurship grants to help kickstart budding entrepreneurs. And the deadline is fast approaching, make sure to get your applications in before the end of the day on 31 August.
To apply all you need to do is write a short essay or business plan (under 1,500 words) and email it to grants@sampriestley.com with the subject header “Grant Application”.
Post: Congratulations to the winners of the last round!
For the first round we had 178 applications, but for this round so far we have had less than 10. The odds are looking good so if you were put off by not winning last time, apply now.
How The Voting Will Work:
My team will pick 15 finalists (if 15 people apply) and we will publish their business plans on this blog by 15 September. Then a public vote will take place lasting 15 days.
Anyone will be able to go to the page and vote for their favourite and votes will be limited to one per person. The top three applicants with the most votes will be awarded a $1,000 grant.
If you are not applying for a grant but want to be notified when voting opens then please subscribe.
What You Should Include in Your application
Your business plan can be for any business. From one you are already running to an idea you have just had. From an online business to a physical one.
When choosing the finalists, my team will be looking for:
- Creativity and uniqueness. We want a clever idea or an interesting take on an old idea.
- A need for the $1,000. We want to know that the money will make a real impact.
- Practicality. We want to be convinced that you will be able to follow through with your business plan.
- Commitment. We want to see that you are committed to the business.
Check out the winners of the last round to see the sort of businesses we look for.
FAQ:
How will the winners be paid?
The winners will be contacted and paid by PayPal. If they are not able to get a PayPal account or do not respond to the request for the PayPal account a runner up will be chosen instead.
I applied for the last round of grants, can I apply again?
Yes you can. Even if you have won a grant previously. But you will need to apply again as we will not automatically roll over your application. Also please note, that the finalists will have their business plans published on this site. So please remove any intellectual property you do not want to be made public.
Why are you doing this?
To get more publicity for this site. I am giving away $12,000 a year and I need a 15% uptick in visitors to this site in order to cover the costs of the grants. So if you want to thank me for offering the grants, please share your favourite articles from this site!
What can I spend the winnings on?
Anything you like.
This is a great idea, can I help?
Sure, especially if you want to donate more money to the pot of grants. Drop me an email at hello@arbing.co.uk with what it is you think you can help with.
