Happy New Decade

Bill Gates said that most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years.

In 2009 I was a student living out of my overdraft. I was single and had been to a grand total of two foreign countries (three if you include Wales). And I had never tasted gin.

Since then I have:

• Finished my Degree.
• Started and finished a Masters Degree.
• Made a living gambling. Then retired.
• Launched a tech startup. And sold it.
• Launched a coffee shop. And sold it.
• Launched Pipehouse Gin.
• Became a police officer. Then quit.
• Published two books.
• Launched this blog. Made a living from this blog.
• Briefly became internet famous.
• Started playing table tennis. Quit table tennis.
• Started two table tennis businesses. Both still going strong.
• Started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Got my blue belt. Then got my purple belt.
• Travelled to 30+ countries.
• Met Emma.
• Married Emma.

A lot of what I am most proud of I didn’t even know existed back in 2009. I had never heard of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Never met Emma. Never listened to a podcast. I didn’t like coffee. I had never tasted gin. I didn’t know what blogging was. And Amazon FBA didn’t exist.

Here’s to a new decade. No matter where you are in life don’t underestimate how much can change and what you can achieve in the next ten years.
